- 2U rack mount servers are versatile and powerful option for businesses needing a balance of performance, expandability and cooling. They are well suited for demanding applications and offer good compromise between density and functionality. They are more expensive than 1U servers, but offer much more in terms of increased components and expandability.

- "2U" means they are 3.5 inches (88.9 mm) tall, twice the height of a 1U server. This extra space provides a significant advantage in terms of expandability and cooling. While you can't fit as many 2U servers in a rack as 1U servers, they offer a sweet spot between density and functionality. The additional height allows for more expansion slots for PCIe for GPU, High performance Network Cards, other multi-functional add-in cards. They offer increased storage capacity to pack in more room for data. They support Hard disk drives, SAS SSDs and NVMe SSDs. They also support more slots for RAM. They can accommodate larger Fans and Heat-sinks to enable better cooling capacity and thereby makes it possible to handle the heat generated by powerful processors and components.
